BCU established in 2005, Burao Central University (BCU) has grown into a cornerstone of higher education in the Togdheer region, dedicated to fostering professional excellence and community development. The university operates three specialized schools—the School of ICT, the School of Business, and the School of Health Science—each designed to equip students with the practical skills needed to thrive in Somaliland’s evolving economy. With a current enrollment of over 500 active students, BCU maintains an intimate and focused learning environment that prioritizes hands-on training and academic rigor.
Since its inception, BCU has successfully produced over 2,000 graduates who are now making significant contributions across various sectors of the workforce. The university is particularly renowned for its impact on regional healthcare, utilizing its Faculty of Health Science and specialized clinical facilities to train skilled nurses, midwives, and dental professionals.
